essie Spring Collection 2017 ‘B’aha Moment’

For some it still might be a tad early to start talking about Spring, especially for those of you who live in places where you have been getting snow dumped on you in the past few weeks, but the Carolinas have been getting warmer and warmer each day and it already is beginning to feel like Spring. On that note I have recently ordered the essie Spring Collection and I cannot wait to share my thoughts with you! This collection was inspired by a road trip down South with your besties! Rebecca Minkoff has done it again and has helped to create the most gorgeous shades for Spring 2017! Now lets get down to business and tell me what you think!

First up is ‘Excuse Me, Sur’, a sun kissed coral mango. This polish is gorgeous don’t get me wrong but it didn’t really do much for me as I have some colors in my collection that are almost identical. For those who don’t have anything like this and are in the market for a perfect Spring/Summer coral than look no further. This polish took three thin coats to reach full opacity. Do make sure you are leaving enough time in between each coat to ensure there are no bald spots or streaks.

Next we have ‘Backseat Besties’, a delicate pink plumeria. This polish is BEAUTIFUL. The formula is perfection, the color is spot on, and its unlike anything else that I own in my collection. This is the perfect bubblegum pink and will definitley be on repeat during 2017.

‘B’aha Moment’ is the namesake of this collection and is an enlightening pink pomegranate. This was a one coat wonder and applies gorgeously to the nail. The pigmentation in the polish is what helps it go on smoothly and quickly.

Next is ‘Designated Dj’ a plum sangria creme. For those of you who follow my blog/insta you know I’m a sucker for vampy polishes like this one so obviously I have great things to say about this polish. This took two coats to reach perfection. The first coat was a bit streaky but the second coat evened it out and created the deep sangria tone that this polish was destined to be! This is a great transition color from Winter to Spring and would even look great in the Fall.

‘On The Roadie’, is a vibrant kelly green. This polish is unlike anything in my collection and applied in one coat…definitley a keeper! I love how the kelly green looks on the nail and how unique this polish is. It will be great for St. Patty’s day and for days when you want to be a bit more daring with your nail color.

Last but not least is ‘All The Wave’, a sapphired indigo. This vibrant blue is to.die.for. I love the smooth application and how vibrant of a color you get from just one coat! essie blues have always been my downfall and this color didn’t let me down. This color is sure to be all the rave (wave) for 2017.

Here is a photo of all six polishes in the collection so that you can see them side by side.

Below I have pictures of the Spring Collection compared to essie polishes in my own collection! I know that this can be helpful to those of you who are wondering whether or not to purchase a color! Also a big thank you to everyone who commented and messaged me to let me know colors that you would like to see compared. I did my best and compared as many of the polishes that I owned/thought came close enough to color I was comparing.

As you can see ‘Backseat Besties’ is more of a pure bubble gum pink (almost pepto-bismol colored in the best way), while Need A Vacation and Groove Is In The Heart are much lighter. I feel like this color might be close to Delhi Dance from the essie Resort Collection 2016 but I don’t have that one to compare it with. In my  personal collection I had no dupes so I was glad that I got this pink!

As you can see ‘Excuse Me, Sur’ and ‘Van D Go’ are almost identical in this photo. Van D Go might be just a touch darker but that is only noticeable to someone who is a polish addict! For those of you who already own Van D Go I would personally opt out of getting this polish. You can also tell from the photo that ‘Steal His Name’ is not anything close to either polish as it is a jelly polish and has more nude undertones than coral. I know a lot of you were asking about ‘High Class Afair’ and ‘Peach Side Babe’ but they don’t even come close as HCA is much more nude/tan and PSB is more of a pure peach color.

You can obviously see that these colors are nothing alike once on the nail but I thought I would compare anyways. I don’t own any greens that even come close to ‘On The Roadie’ and I don’t think that there is one. Even ‘Mojito Madness’ is lighter than ‘On The Roadie’ and doesn’t even compare to the deep kelly green of this polish. If you are looking for a fun and unique color this is a must!

First off you can see that ‘Butler Please’ is much brighter of a blue than the other two polishes. Next you can see that ‘Mesmerized’ and ‘All The Wave’ are definitley in the same family, however ATW is a tad bit darker and more of an indigo, while ‘Mesmerized’ is more of a true royal blue. In my opinion you need both polishes but for those of you who just want something in the deep blue family either polish would work!

The comparison between ‘Bahama Mama’ and ‘Designated DJ’ was my most highly requested and here are my results! To me these polishes are almost identical. ‘Bahama Mama’ is a tad bit brighter but overall they are almost spot on. ‘In The Lobby’ is also very similar to both and I feel that any of the three could be swapped out for one another. Now don’t get me wrong ‘Designated DJ’ is as gorgeous color and has a great formula but if you do own ITL or BM it might be best to not pick this one up too! ‘Turn N Pose’ is obviously much darker and more purple than brown.

‘B’aha Moment’ is a much deeper and more raspberry color than ‘Watermelon’, which has a much brighter and pinker pigmentation. ‘Very Cranberry’ is in the same family but is deeper and is a tad more cranberry/red colored. All three are definitley different and I would get all of them if you are one who loves a nice pop on the nail!

I hope that this post was helpful to you! These types of posts take a lot of time to make happen! In my opinion this was a great collection but did have a few hits and misses. There were a good amount of polishes that were very close if not dupes for those that I previously own, however there were also some that were new and different for me! The one difference between these and some that you may previously own is that the formula for each of these was spot on and makes application a breeze! My three favorites from this collection were ‘Backseat Besties’, ‘All The Wave’, and ‘On The Roadie’. Please let me know your thoughts and reviews and what polishes are your favorite from the collection over on my insta! Thanks for reading!
