I finally got my hands on the entire essie Bridal Collection for 2017 and I can’t wait to share it with you. Instead of coming out with a bridal collection of six regular essie polishes, essie decided to come out with six new Gel Couture polishes in collaboration with Monique Lhuillier. Monique Lhuillier is a bridal designer and she collaborated with essie to come out with these gorgeous colors just in time for bridal season! Take a look below to see what this collection entails!
Polishes from left to right and top to bottom: ‘Dress Is More’, ‘Lace To The Altar’, ‘Blush Worthy’, ‘Sage You Love Me’, ‘To Have & To Gold’, and ‘Berry In Love’.
First up is ‘Lace To The Altar’, an elegant ivory accented with iridescent pearls. I am seriously in love with this polish and would 100% wear it on my Wedding day…now I just need to find someone to marry in order to make this happen. This took three thin coats to reach literal pearl perfection.
Next we have ‘Dress Is More’, a creamy white thats dusted with pink. This is a jelly polish that is perfect for a bride who just wants a simple and classic look on her big day. It took three coats to reach this opacity but also looks gorg with less coats if you want a sheer look!
Introducing ‘Blush-Worthy’, a feminine peony pink speckled with gold. At first I was a bit nervous about the large glitter in this polish and whether or not it would make the formula clumpy. I was proved wrong when this polish applied easily without any issues! The gold flecks throughout this polish are to die for and it adds a modern twist to a classic polish.
‘Sage You Love Me’ is a soft dusty gray with a kiss of green. This polish is breathtaking and is perfect for that bride who isn’t afraid to add a bit of color to her wedding look. I used three coats but this could have been done in two. I’m seriously obsessed with this color and never want to take it off. This one is a must.
Next we have ‘To Have & To Gold’, a chic vintage rose gold. I was nervous at first that this polish would leave streaks when dried but it did no such thing! This is definitley a show stopping polish and can be worn all year long in my opinion. If you are a gold fan this polish is definitley for you.
Last but not least is ‘Berry In Love’, a deep, dazzling plum red. I love how this one isn’t as dark as most of my berry polishes and only needed two coats to become this rich gorgeous color.
Here is a photo of all six polishes so that you can see them side by side.
Below I have comparisons of the polishes from the Bridal Collection to polishes in my own collection.
As you can see neither of these polishes come close to ‘Lace To The Altar’. ‘She Said Yes’ has a small shimmer and is a cream colored polish and ‘Private Weekend’ is a truer white with larger sparkles embedded into the polish. In my opinion ‘Lace To The Altar’ is much prettier than both and the shimmer/glitter embedded within is a lot more prominent.
Next I compared ‘Dress Is More’ to ‘East Hampton Cottage’ and ‘Pre Show Jitters’. Yet again neither of these two polishes even come close to DIM. PSJ is a lot more opaque and has a creamy formula. EHC has a slight shimmer and is also not a jelly polish.
Here is ‘Peek A Boo’ compared to ‘Blush-Worthy’. They both are light pinks with mirco shimmer, however ‘Blush Worthy’ is a tad bit darker and peachier with bigger specks of shimmer.
I took all of the ‘sage’ colored polishes in my collection to compare and this is what I came up with. Obviously ‘Absolutely Shore’ is a lot lighter and doesn’t even come close. ‘Maximilian Strasse Her’ and ‘Who Is The Boss’ are both in the same family but are both a tad different. If they were mixed together ‘Sage You Love Me’ would be the color that they would make.
As you can see ‘Getting Groovy’ and ‘Good As Gold’ are both a lot more true gold toned rather than rose gold toned like ‘To Have & To Gold is. ‘Penny Talk’ is the closest polish and is in the same color family it just doesn’t have the shimmer embedded in to the polish that ‘To Have & To Gold’ has.
Lastly we have ‘Berry In Love’. I compared it to ‘In The Lobby’ and ‘Bahama Mama’. Both polishes were much darker and vampier toned than ‘Berry In Love’.
I love this collection because they truly have a color for every type of bride, from someone looking for a classic look to a bride who wants a show stopping polish, this collection has it all! My top three favorites were ‘Sage You Love Me’, ‘Lace To The Altar’, and ‘To Have & To Gold’. I didn’t have any dupes in this collection so I was glad that I ended up getting all six of the polishes.
