essie Summer Collection 2017 ‘S’il Vous Play’

Hello everyone! I am so excited to share with you the essie Summer Collection ‘S’il Vous Play’. This collection was in collaboration with Rebecca Minkoff and was inspired by her trips to Paris and all of the macaroons she would see at the Parisian markets! I had the wonderful chance to get a sneak peek of this collection while in the city with the essie club collab so I’ve been waiting longer than normal to be able to talk about these six gorgeous polishes! With that being said lets get down to business because I cannot wait any longer to talk about these pretty babies!

From left to right: ‘Sweet Soufflé’, ‘Baguette Me Not’, ‘S’il Vous Play’, ‘Blue-la-la’, ‘Fondant Of You’, and ‘Éclair My Love’.

Up first is ‘Sweet Soufflé’, an iridescent sugar white. It took me three thin coats in order to get this polish just right! The slight shift embedded in this polish and the fantastic formula make this one a winner. This really is the perfect white for Summer and only needed a few thin coats, unlike some lighter polishes that need four or five in order to reach opacity.

Next we have ‘Baguette Me Not’, an unforgettable lilac macaron. This only took two coats to reach this gorg color and I was pleasantly surprised at how opaque this polish was after the first coat.

‘S’il Vous Play’, the namesake of this collection, is a lavender pink foil. wow. wow. wow. I can’t stop staring at my nails when this polish is on. No matter what way the light hits my nail the polish looks perfect. This polish has the same type of formula as Apres-Chic and To Have & To Gold and is very unique. I was super happy when I saw that essie had stepped out of the box and had come up with such a unique polish. This one is really hard to photograph and in real life its even more lavender looking!

‘Blue-la-la’, a pastel Parisian blue. Oh my happy day. This blue polish is literally everything. As I’m writing this post I am wearing it and honestly I don’t see myself taking it off anytime soon. This blue is everything you could want and more all wrapped into a tiny little essie bottle. I truly think this will be a favorite of mine for years to come.

Next is ‘Fondant Of You’, a sparkling apricot marmalade. This takes three coats to reach a gorgeous shimmering apricot. This is perfect for those of you who love essie oranges but with a micro-shimmer!

Last but not least is ‘Éclair My Love’, a red candy passion. This color is currently on my toes and is giving me that extra pop that I needed! It took two coats to reach this rich bright red.

Here is a photo of all six polishes from the collection side by side.

Below are comparisons of the Summer Collection to essie polishes that I already own. I think you will be happy to see that I don’t have any dupes for this collection! I tried to take into consideration all of the comparison recommendations that you messaged me, however some of the polishes I didn’t own!

First up I compared ‘Eclair My Love’ to ‘Cute As A Button’, ‘Hiking Heels’, and ‘Resort Romanza’. None of these polishes even came close as RR is more of a raspberry colored polish, HH was a lot more orange toned, and CAAB was more of a coral colored polish.

Next I compared ‘Blue-la-la’ to ‘Find Me An Oasis’ and ‘Strike A Pose-itano’. As you can see they really aren’t similar at all but I wanted you to be able to see how truly unique BLL is compared to other blue polishes that essie has.

‘Fondant Of You’ is a lot darker hued than ‘Tart Deco’ and ‘Peach Side Babe’. It also has a micro-shimmer throughout the polish, while TD and PSB do not.

‘She Said Yes’ and ‘Sweet Souffle’ really aren’t close as ‘Sweet Souffle’ has a light sheen and ‘She Said Yes’ has an actual shimmer embedded within the polish.

‘Baguette Me Not’ and ‘Go Ginza’ are both in the lighter purple family, however GG is more of a cherry blossom light pink, while BMN is slightly darker and more on the lilac side.

I didn’t do a comparison of ‘S’il Vous Play’ as there are no polishes that I own that are anywhere close to it. The only one that I can think of that would come close would be ‘Nothing Else Metals’, however its more of a metallic polish than a foil polish.

I honestly only have rave reviews about this entire collection. I love every single polish and they will be on repeat all summer long. If I had to pick my favorites they would be ‘Sweet Soufflé’, Blue-la-la’, ‘Baguette Me Not’, and ‘S’il Vous Play’ (I normally only pick three favorites but I just couldn’t narrow it down). If you haven’t gotten your hands on this collection I would recommend getting them as soon as possible because you truly don’t want to miss out. Let me know which polishes in this collection you can’t live without on Instagram! Stay tuned to see a nail art look using this collection!

The products in this post were sent to me by essie, however this post was all my personal opinion. #essiepartner
